Being able to take my favorite racing game on-the-go was a dream come true. However, my excitement quickly turned into frustration when I realized that playing with the Joy-Con controllers just wasn’t cutting it.
Don’t get me wrong, the Joy-Cons are great for certain games, but for a fast-paced and precise game like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, they just don’t provide the same experience as a proper controller. The small size and lack of ergonomic design made it uncomfortable to hold for extended periods of time. And let’s not forget about the infamous “Joy-Con drift” issue that can seriously affect gameplay.
But even more importantly, the Joy-Cons simply don’t have enough buttons and controls to fully utilize all of the features in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
